Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 190 C / Gas mark 5. Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Butter one side of every piece of bread, then cut slices into triangles.
  3. Place half of the bread buttered side up covering the base of the baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle sultanas and sugar onto bread,
  5. then place the remaining bread on top buttered side up.
  6. In a saucepan over medium heat, warm milk until nearly boiling.
  7. Remove from heat and combine with eggs, stirring vigorously.
  8. Pour the mixture over the bread and allow to soak for ten minutes.
  9. Grate nutmeg over the top.
  10. Bake in the middle of the oven for 45 minutes until set and lightly browned.

Instructions
  1. Add all the dry ingredients, dried fruit, spice and butter into a bowl then mix together well.
  2. Add the milk and combine to form a soft dough.
  3. Place the mixture into a buttered pudding bowl of about 1 litre capacity then cover with foil.
  4. Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil then place a saucer in upside down to keep the pudding bowl off the bottom.
  5. Lower the pudding in and leave it to boil for 2 hours adding additional water as it evaporates.
  6. When cooked put the pudding onto a plate and serve with custard.
